Surf City ? Topsail Island ? Winter is a great time for indoor youth sports at Surf City Parks & Recreation! Cheerleading signups are now underway for a six-week program slated to start January 15 on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. The instructor is Nora Cunning whom is affiliated with both Dixon schools and Dixon Gridiron Club where she is cheerleading commissioner. The cost is only $50 and including t-shirt and shorts!
Surf City?s inaugural Youth Basketball program has already started age group practices on Saturdays with U-6 at 11, U-9 at 12 Noon and U-12 at 1 pm the rest of December. The cost is only $30 for U-6 which will practice and scrimmage Friday nights from 5 to 7 and $35 for the other two age groups which will play games on Saturday mornings in January and February.

The season will start with a Meet & Greet for the U-6 Little Dribblers Division where they will meet their coaches and get their first taste of basketball at 5:30 pm, January 4. The U-9 and U-12 will have a Kickoff Clinic on Saturday January 5 from 9 ? 11 pm under direction of Surf City Basketball coaching advisor Bob Bartlett. Bartell will also be hosting a Coaches Clinic on Tuesday, January 8 from 5:30 to 7 pm.

Finally, Youth Indoor Soccer, playing international futsal rules, will begin league play on Saturday afternoon, January 5. Age group practices are already underway and for the rest of December they will be held Saturday afternoons at 2 pm (U-9), 3 pm (U-12) and 4 pm (U-16). Again, the cost is only $35 for an eight-game season.
