MEXICO CITY -- Mexican prosecutors say they have raided a warehouse and found sacks of farm goods and machinery that may have been used as part of an attempt to buy votes in the July 1 elections.
Leftist parties have mounted legal challenges to the election results, claiming vote-buying by the winning Institutional Revolutionary Party, or PRI.
The Attorney General's Office for Electoral Crimes says it found hundreds of sacks of oats and beans in the warehouse in the town of Sain Alto, in northern Zacatecas state.
The office said Saturday the raid was carried out after people complained the town government was giving the goods out in exchange for votes.
The office did not say what party was responsible for the goods, but the town is governed by the PRI.
