CLASSIFICATION: (Exempt)

POSITION LOCATION: Business & Information Technology, Racine

POSITION DESCRIPTION: Under supervision of the Dean of Business & Information Technology, this instructor will teach courses in the Accounting associate degree program using traditional, accelerated, self-paced, and open entry, on-line classes. Additional responsibilities include establishing linkages with area employers, student advisement on academic issues, curriculum development, recruitment and retention efforts, committee work, and participation in efforts to market the accounting program and Gateway.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must meet ALL of the required qualifications. Please provide copies of all supporting documentation with your application (i.e. transcripts, certifications, licenses, etc.).

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting.
  • Two years (4,000 hours) occupational experience in accounting. Work experience must come from the categories listed on the Wisconsin Technical College system website for http://systemattic.wtcsyst em.edu/certification/occexp/101-10-1.doc
  • Experience teaching adults.
  • Working experience with computer software systems.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master's degree in accounting
  • CPA certification
  • Experience in on-line instructional delivery
SALARY: Salary is a formulation based on education and experience.
Salary range: $52,866 - $75,476 for a 163-day contract.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Must meet and maintain Wisconsin Technical College System certification requirements.
  • Flexibility is needed, as schedule may vary to accommodate the needs of both day and evening students.
  • Employment is conditional on completion of a background and reference check that is acceptable to the College.
  • This position has union representation.

Job Summary:
This primary purpose of an instructional position is preparation, and delivery of instruction, and assessment of student learning, in the instructor's assigned department/division.

Essential Functions:
1. Prepare for and deliver instruction and perform teaching-related activities.
2. Manage the classroom/laboratory.
3. Develop curriculum and monitor and revise as appropriate to maintain course effectiveness; assist in program evaluation.
4. Manage equipment, supplies and materials.
5. Assess student performance and advise students on academic issues.
6. Collaborate with advisory committee in program area.
7. Attend departmental and institutional meetings.
8. Promote the education/training program, participate in efforts to recruit and retain students, and participate in efforts to market Gateway.
9. Support student organizations and activities.
10. Develop relationships with business and industry.
11. Complete program evaluation and follow-up.
12. Maintain certification, continue professional development and stay current in field.

Education/Experience:
1. Educational and occupational qualifications vary by program.
2. Each instructor must be able to meet Wisconsin Technical College System certification requirements for their educational program area.
